Catherine Donnelly (ed) - The Oxford Companion to Cheese. Not a story book, but rather an encyclopedic approach to practically everything about cheese. Over 800 pages full of fascinating information that, considering it can be had for under $50, definitely should be on your bookshelf.

Rob Kaufel and Liz Thorpe - The Murray's Cheese Handbook. A definitive work by the proprietor of one of America's best cheese stores. A great book to keep in your pocket when you are shopping for cheeses.

Steve Jenkins - Cheese Primer. This huge primer presents a region-by-region guide through the world's great cheeses, and is full of information about cheese pairings and teaches one how to judge, savor, store and serve the world's great cheeses. Highly recommended to me by Nancy at the Holiday Market.

McCalman and Gibbons - Cheese: A Connoisseur's Guide to the World's Best. This beautiful, award-winning book, is filled with essential information and is organized alphabetically with images, descriptions, ratings and wine pairings of the great cheeses.
